Someone conversant in Japanese might be able to locate the soldier and determine if he was on Okinawa. The family was unsure if the item was taken from an Okinawa Soldier because their father refused to talk about his war experiences. This helmet Was purchased from the estate of a Marine Okinawa Vet. There is the usual Japanese character painted in white on the inner back of the helmet that designates the helmet size. There are Sewn in writing characters on the strap which may indicate the soldiers name. The web strap is complete with factory sewn tips and has not been cut or shortened in any way. The original leather three-section liner is complete with all three pads and original String and remains in mostly supple condition. The original star is firmly affixed to the front of the helmet.
